Claire Cashmore wins 4 Medals at IPC Swimming World Championships!

Worcestershire’s Paralympic Swimmer Claire Cashmore, sponsored by Willow Resourcing, had a very successful meet at the IPC Swimming World Championships held recently in Montreal. Claire won 4 medals in all and also broke the world record with 3 of her team-mates in one of the relay events.

Having narrowly missed out on a medal in the 50m freestyle when placed 4th, Claire won Bronze in the 200m Individual Medley which featured a GB clean sweep of the medals with Amy Marren winning Gold and Stephanie Millward the Silver. 2 days later Claire returned to the pool to win Silver in the 100m breaststroke before combining with Amy, Stephanie and and Susie Rodgers to win Gold in the freestyle relay later the same day.

The highlight of the Championships for Claire came on the last day of the meet, when she once again teamed up with Amy and Stephanie and this time also with Stephanie Slater to win the Gold in the Individual Medley relay in a new world record time of 4:46:21, knocking over 6 seconds off the previous world best.

We are extremely proud of Claire’s achievements in Montreal as she continues to work towards Rio in 2016. 2013 has been a successful year for Claire, having originally aimed to first qualify for the World Championships and then to perform well in them.
