Compliance Monitoring Officer

A Compliance Monitoring Officer is required by an expanding Consumer Credit provider to undertake compliance monitoring and to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the regulatory and conduct risk management practices, policies, risk culture and risk methodologies. This is a newly created role as the business seeks to further develop its Risk & Compliance operations. You will split your time between the office (2 days a week) and home (3 days a week).

Key responsibilities of the role will include

• Assisting in completing, updating and reporting on the Compliance Monitoring Programme
• Planning and conducting risk-based thematic reviews within the first line of defence to assess whether effective controls are in place for the business to meet its regulatory obligations through adherence to its policies, procedures and processes
• Overseeing the implementation of appropriate remedial measures to agreed timescales, where deficiencies have been identified
• Assisting in the updating of the Compliance Risk Assessment with output from the Compliance Monitoring plan
• To create and record for each individual thematic review the Terms of Reference, Testing Schedules, Factual Accuracy Documents, Draft and Final Reports, Action Plan Closure
• Delivering allocated Compliance Monitoring activity on a quarterly basis in adherence to the Compliance Monitoring Methodology
• Preparing draft and final reports for discussion with the Compliance Manager and the Head of Risk & Compliance if necessary
• Promptly escalating any emerging issues to the Compliance Manager and Head of Risk & Compliance
• To record on the regulatory breach register and monitor the closure of remedial action plans by the business issues identified from the Compliance Monitoring Plan
• To assist in the production of regular Compliance monitoring management information for all governance fora up to the Board so they can identify, measure, manage and control these risks, covering progress and outcomes of the CMP

You will have prior experience in a Compliance Monitoring or Assurance role and possess a thorough working knowledge of the FCA regulatory framework (CONC knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential). In addition you will need excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and be capable of operating in a fast-paced and constantly evolving landscape.
