Regulatory Legal Counsel

A Regulatory Legal Counsel is required for a highly successful and rapidly expanding international Crypto firm. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the business at an exciting stage in its development both here in the UK and internationally, building and shaping your interpretation of a best-in-class compliance function. The firm operates a hybrid working model requiring staff to only be in the office once a week, with the rest of the time spent working from home.

Reporting into the General Counsel (GC) you will be responsible for

• Working with the GC to ensure the Group maintains the highest standards of legal, regulatory compliant and ethical behaviour, balancing company performance against corporate integrity
• Sourcing and providing advice on a wide range of regulatory matters affecting various business lines including trading, prime brokerage, clearing, exchange, and custody
• In close collaboration with Compliance, advising on regulatory and governance arrangements, policies and procedures, and the implementation of these across the Group (including financial services regulations and data protection).
• Advising on regulatory applications and licences in various jurisdictions (including liaising with local regulatory authorities)
• Attending industry working groups in crypto space
• Working closely with the compliance function to identify risk and reputational issues, assessing the relative level of the threat and propose an appropriate course of action to the GC

You will be a qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE, with experience in an in-house role within a Financial Services firm. You will ideally have a good working knowledge of regulations in brokerage, trading, prime brokerage, custody or exchange/clearing field (including MIFID 2) together with a deep knowledge of commercial law in relation to financial services, e.g. derivative contracts and financial services contracts (OTC, futures, options etc.). You will be an organised, efficient and effective self-starter, able to run numerous transactions and manage multi-jurisdictional requirements.


Salary:£80k - £110k + bonus
